(BWF) has named nearly 40 nonprofit organizations as 2014 recipients.
The Bonnaroo Works Fund is the charitable arm of Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, and supports national and regional organizations that encourage the arts, education and the environment. Bonnaroo Works Fund is a component of the East Tennessee Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which administers the fund. Grantees are selected via a committee, based on need, mission and the specific use of funding.
The Avett Brothers have signed on as 2014 Bonnaroo Works Fund Ambassadors and will help raise awareness of the fund.

LifeNotes: Musician Bucky Doster Dies
/by Robert K OermannDoster was a left-handed trombonist who toured with Glen Campbell and recorded with stars ranging from Johnny Cash to Brenda Lee. He grew up in Murfreesboro and played in dance bands during his high-school years, as well as a college student at MTSU. He joined the AFM’s Nashville local at age 19 in 1942. Following the onset of World War II, he was inducted into the Army in 1943.
While in the service, he became first trombone with the 97th Infantry Division Band. He settled in Nashville following his discharge in 1946. He played with the Owen Bradley Orchestra and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.
Bradley began using Doster as a session musician in the 1950s. He played on several of Brenda Lee’s rock ‘n’ roll records as well as on her debut LP, 1959’s Grandma What Great Songs You Sang. In addition to studio work with many other Nashville artists, Doster became a road musician for Glen Campbell. In 1969-71 he was a member of The Bill Walker Orchestra on The Johnny Cash Show on ABC-TV.
In Nashville, Doster completed his college education at Peabody College. He became a band director in the schools of Huntsville, Ala. He served in the same capacity at Isaac Litton High School, as well as at East Junior High School in Nashville. In his final years as an educator, he became brass musical consultant for the Metro Nashville Public School System.
In retirement, Bucky Doster played with The Establishment, a big-band dance orchestra that donated its proceeds to the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University.
Born James J. Doster, he died on Tuesday, May 19, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bettye Doster, by children Dana (Tom) Luton and Jan (Jeff) Bennett, by four grandchildren and a twin sister, Justine D. Stutts.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Hendersonville Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, with a reception for friends and family beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to the Doster Family Scholarship at Lipscomb University.
MusicMaster Adds Butler As Music Scheduling Consultant

MusicMaster has added radio programming veteran Jerry Butler to its team as Music Scheduling Consultant. He most recently programmed for WRUF-FM, WRUF-AM, WRUF-TV, WUFT-FM, and WUFT-TV in Gainesville, Fla.
MusicMaster president Joe Knapp adds, “With the blessing of a rapidly-expanding and highly successful business comes the wonderful problem of being under-staffed. The trick is finding people who will fit perfectly into the team and hit the ground running. We are very fortunate to have found Jerry Butler. His passion and enthusiasm will fit right in here. Before long, I expect he will be part of the reason for our next round of expansion!”
MusicMaster was founded by Joe Knapp in 1983 and is one of the largest Windows-based music scheduling software for radio and television stations.
He will begin his new role June 5.
Opheim Joins Warner Music Nashville

Warner Music Nashville has announced the hiring of Mallory Opheim as as Mgr./Regional Promotion Midwest/NE. She is taking over the region vacated by Katie Bright, who was recently promoted to National Director of Promotion for Team WMN. Opheim joins the team after handling the SE for Red Bow Records.
It’s a return to the WMN for Opheim, who interned there while studying at Belmont University. She has also worked at The Davis Music Group, Instigator and Blaster Records. Her first day on the job at WMN is Tuesday May 27.

Jim Lauderdale Sets July Release For 'I'm A Song' Album
/by Jessica NicholsonThe 20-track album boasts guests Lee Ann Womack, Patty Loveless and Buddy Miller, as well as songwriting from co-writers Gary Allan, Bobby Bare, Odie Blackmon, Jimmy Ritchey, Elvis Costello, Robert Hunter and more.
Jim’s band on I’m A Song includes James Burton, Al Perkins, Kenny Vaughn, Dennis Crouch, Stuart Duncan, and John Oates.
Due to popular demand, “King of Broken Hearts,” Jim’s most requested tune is re-recorded for the first time since Planet of Love was released in 1991. “I wanted to do ‘King of Broken Hearts’ again since that album is out of print, and people keep asking for that song. That’s one that I do at just about every show as a tribute to Gram Parsons and George Jones,” Lauderdale says.

Nashville Residents Co-Curate Photo Exhibit in Los Angeles

ParkerDeveloped with Shannon Perich of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American, Country: Portraits of an American Sound will explore how both historical and contemporary images shape the public identity of Country music. A variety of documentary, studio, promotional and fine art images are featured of Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Keith Urban and Hank Williams—as well as deejays, fans, executives and musicians. Photographers include Opry veteran Les Leverett, among others.
On Thursday, Aug. 21, the Nashville co-curators will be featured in the free evening lecture series, Iris Nights, in conjunction with the California exhibition. In addition to being streamed online, tickets are available for reservation.
As part of the exhibit, an original half-hour documentary will also highlight photography’s role in Country music’s more than 80-year evolution. Commissioned by the art-space, the Arclight Production will feature over a dozen Country music artists, including Roy Clark, Merle Haggard, Lyle Lovett, LeAnn Rimes, Marty Stuart, Lee Ann Womack and more.

Sara Evans kicked off the Fox & Friends Summer Concert Series this morning (May 23) in support of her seventh studio album Slow Me Down. Evans performed her hits including “A Little Bit Stronger,” “Suds In The Bucket,” “A Real Fine Place,” and her current single “Slow Me Down” for a packed crowd of fans as well as Navy and Coast Guard members in town for Fleet Week.

Conway Entertainment Group Signs The SteelDrivers
