THiS Music creative director Kendall Lettow and G Major Mgmt managing partner Virginia Hunt Davis are featured in Glamour‘s February 2015 magazine.

Both were profiled in the How They Dress on the Job… portion of the print magazine, which has been going city to city highlighting women with interesting jobs.

Lettow appeared on lower Broadway, fitted in a $2400 Isabel Marant dress with a $400 bag and $300 boots. Davis was dressed in a unpriced Valentino coat, J.Crew blouse with a $1100 Altuzarra skirt and $200 sandals, while appearing on Nashville’s Pedestrian Bridge.

“I have no idea how they found out who I was, they just randomly emailed Rusty [Gaston],” Lettow told MusicRow. “They flew in a photographer, a stylist with trunks of clothes. The coordination team decided ‘my shoot look’ based on what I told them I liked. We were up at 7:30am for a three-hour shoot. It was all so random, but I had a really great time!”

Little Extra Music continues to expand its roster with the signing of singer/songwriter/producer Carolyn Dawn Johnson to a worldwide publishing agreement.

“I met Carolyn Dawn not long after she came to Nashville and was an instant fan,” said company president Lisa Ramsey Perkins. “She’s not only an amazing singer and songwriter, she’s one of the first women I met who produced her own records. I’ve always wanted to work with her and am thrilled she’s now a part of the Little Extra Music family!”

“I’m so happy to be working with Lisa,” said Johnson. “I’ve always admired her energy and passion for the music, the artists and the industry. She has worn many hats and brings so much to the table! I value her ears and expertise and am thankful for this partnership, as she makes me want to do better every single day, and to me, that’s how a publisher/writer relationship should be.”

Four years after moving from Vancouver, BC Canada to Nashville, Johnson scored her first hit as a songwriter when Chely Wright took “Single White Female” to the No. 1 spot. The success led to publishing deals and cuts with artists like Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Pam Tillis, Suzy Bogguss, Jo Dee Messina and others. MusicRow Magazine named her “Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year” in 2000, the same year Arista Nashville signed her to a record deal.

Johnson produced her 2001 debut album titled Room With a View, which contained the Top 5 single “Complicated,” as well as singles “Georgia” and “I Don’t Want You to Go.” She went on to open tours for Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban.

The Academy of Country Music Awards crowned her Top New Female Vocalist in 2002, and the American Music Awards honored her as Favorite New Country Artist the following year. In 2004 and 2009, the Canadian Country Music Awards named Johnson Producer of the Year for her work on many Canadian-based projects. To date, she has racked up 17 CCMA’s, including the title for reigning Female Vocalist of the Year.

She has also spent time singing background vocals for Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, and others.

“I like to say that I’ve had many bonuses to my dreams … things, people, events and accolades, in addition toand off the beaten path from my original goals,” notes Johnson. “I’ve certainly gone further then I actually imagined, but that doesn’t make me stop in my tracks. I just want to keep doing this for the rest of my life. Music truly is what makesmy world go round.”

When EVP/GM Marc Driskill and the rest of the Sea Gayle creative team heard his music, Solar was offered a publishing deal on the spot.

“His lyrics are well beyond his years and his voice is distinctive and soulful. What a great story and an amazing talent. We are really excited about working with CJ and having him as part of the Sea Gayle roster,” commented Driskill.

ASCAP Names Elizabeth Matthews CEO

Elizabeth Matthews

Elizabeth Matthews

Today, the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced that Elizabeth Matthews has been named Chief Executive Officer of the organization, after previously serving as Executive Vice President and General Counsel at ASCAP since 2013.

She replaces former ASCAP CEO John LoFrumento who retired December 31 after 33 years of service, including 17 years as CEO.

Matthews, a unanimous choice among the Board’s 12 writer and 12 publisher members, begins her tenure at the helm immediately.

As ASCAP’s Executive Vice President & General Counsel, Matthews played an important role in planning the organization’s future. She led development of a six-year transformative strategic plan and was a key internal leader on modernizing ASCAP’s licensing systems and pushing for reform of ASCAP’s consent decree. She also spearheaded the organization’s support for introducing the Songwriter Equity Act in Congress. “Since joining ASCAP’s executive team, Beth Matthews has been a tireless advocate for our members and a catalyst for the entire organization,” said LoFrumento. “Working alongside Beth these past two years, there is no doubt in my mind that she has both the know-how and vision to lead ASCAP in a dynamic music landscape.”

Prior to ASCAP, Matthews served as Executive Vice President & Deputy General Counsel at Viacom Media Networks (formerly MTV Networks) since 1998.

“Now, more than ever, songwriters and composers need an advocate we can trust to ensure our work is valued fairly in a rapidly changing music marketplace,” said ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams, an award-winning songwriter. “What we do is vital to the future of music. Beth’s experience in the global multimedia content sector, her deep understanding of the complexities of the music business and her passion for protecting the rights of music creators make her singularly qualified for the CEO role. Her enthusiasm for taking on the new challenges of the digital era is unparalleled.”

“ASCAP is an expansive, forward-looking and adaptive service organization that successfully built and grew the market for performance rights for songwriters and publishers in the United States,” said Matthews. “As CEO, I am excited about building on our unique assets to offer new, innovative services to our members and licensing partners. As new media platforms transform how we listen to music, it is critical that we evolve our own business models and update outdated music licensing laws to better reflect the reality of today’s music marketplace. I am honored to work on behalf of the world’s greatest music creators who call ASCAP home.”

ASCAP represents more than 520,000 music creators.
