“As the global music industry evolves, the combination of BMG and Concord will be uniquely positioned to capture new opportunities through its talent focus, entrepreneurial spirit and global scale, supported by continued investments in catalogs and talent,” adds Bauer. “I am excited to join the combined company upon closing of the transaction, a pivotal moment in its growth journey. I look forward to partnering with the teams to drive the combined company’s next phase of growth and support its long-term strategic ambitions.”

CMA & Disney Extend Deal Through 2032

CMA and Disney have extended their deal for the CMA Awards, as well as CMA Fest and CMA Country Christmas through 2032.

Adding six years to the already 20 year collaboration between the two companies, the new deal will include expanded opportunities across streaming and digital platforms. With the new deal, this year’s CMA Awards will stream live on Disney+ for the first time ever, alongside the ABC broadcast.

“For two decades, Disney has been CMA’s partner in celebrating excellence in Country Music and bringing its artists and storytelling to audiences around the world,” says Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “Extending our collaboration with Disney and expanding the show to livestream on Disney+ marks an exciting next step for CMA, allowing us to reach new audiences while continuing our role in elevating and shaping the genre. As I prepare to retire at the end of the year, ensuring CMA is strongly positioned for the future has remained one of my highest priorities, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together. As we approach The 60th Annual CMA Awards this fall and a new chapter for CMA Fest in the new stadium in 2027, I’m excited for what’s ahead for both CMA and Country Music.”

Kenny Chesney Achieves Biggest Add Day Ever With New Single ‘Carry On’

Kenny Chesney. Photo: Allister Ann

Kenny Chesney‘s first single in two years and first for the new indie label Hey Now Records, Carry On, has achieved a pair of firsts: his highest ever add day, and all 158 panel stations adding the single on the first week.

“Carry On” locking the panel on week one marks only the third time in Mediabase history this has happened. Garth Brooks achieved the feat back in 1997, and Post Malone with Morgan Wallen delivered 100% of the reporters out of the gate in 2024. Chesney has definitely struck a chord with the feel good tune filled with bartender wisdom that packs bits of reggae undertow, bluegrass harmonies and a summer anthem chorus that sparks people to turn it up, drive faster, laugh louder, stay a little longer and then get up and seize the day the morning after.

“Some songs just hit you in the heart,” recalls Chesney, “and when I heard it, I was right there at the end of the bar at Schooner Wharf, which is such old Key West. I could see it, hear it, taste it – and the more I listened to songs, and I’ve heard some unbelievable songs this time around, the more I knew I wanted to find a song that would not just make people happy, but give them permission to live their life so in the moment and free.

“The world’s overwhelming, between our phones and the news, it’s a lot. But the truth is: our lives are right now, and we need to remember – no matter what – that we gotta find the joy and happiness wherever, however, because that’s the only thing we can control.”
