Keith Urban To Headline ‘ACM Next Wave: Country’s Beach Bash’

The ACM has announced additional performers and new event details for this year’s ACM Awards Week lineup, which will take place leading up to the 61st ACM Awards on May 17 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Keith Urban will headline “ACM Next Wave: Country’s Beach Bash” at Mandalay Bay Beach on May 16. Urban joins previously announced performers Flatland Cavalry, Ashley Cooke, Dasha, Braxton Keith and Tucker Wetmore, as well as members of the Opry NextStage Class of 2026 Willow Avalon, Graham Barham, Tyler Braden, Alexandra Kay, Vincent Mason, Emily Ann Roberts and Hudson Westbrook on the show.

Additionally, Avery Anna, The Band Perry, Jenna Paulette and Caroline Jones have been announced as performers for the “Whiskey Jam Welcome Party” on May 14, a free ACM Awards welcome party open to both fans and industry alike held at Ole Red Las Vegas. Additional performers will be announced for the “Whiskey Jam Welcome Party” soon.

“Whiskey Jam Welcome Party” joins the previously announced ACM Awards Week events including the “ACM Next Wave: Country’s Beach Bash” and “ACM Lifting Lives Country on the Green: Riley Green & Friends” at Topgolf Las Vegas on May 15. The event will feature an up-close concert experience with headliner Green, alongside Lauren Alaina, Rodney Atkins, and Randy Houser. Tickets are available at $200 for VIP Early Access to General Admission doors and $150 for General Admission at AXS.com. Proceeds benefit ACM Lifting Lives, the philanthropic partner of the Academy of Country Music.

Spotify & NIVA Form Partnership

Spotify and the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) have revealed a year-long partnership, which will help support independent live music across the country.

“Independent venues are the heartbeat of live music,” says Rene Volker, Senior Director, Live Music, Spotify. “They’re where artists take risks, build devoted communities, and where fans discover what they’ll love for the rest of their lives. Below are some of the new initiaives that will launch through the new partnership:

Amplifying independent events: Spotify will highlight independent venues through venue pages and the Live Events feed.

Monthly playlist spotlights: Spotify will launch the Independent Booker Spotlight playlist series this summer. NIVA will select a new independent booking agent each month to create a playlist alongside Spotify’s editorial team.

Recognizing independent venues: NIVA will have Certified Live Independent seal that marks independently owned venues. The seal is intended to elevate the quality and sustainability of independent live performances while safeguarding the authentic, distinctive character that defines these cultural spaces. By featuring this seal on venue pages on Spotify, it will give independent venues platform visibility that matches their impact on the broader ecosystem.

Investing in the future of live music: Spotify will invest in venues that showcase both early growth and long-term community building.

SoFi, Kelsea Ballerini & CMA Launch Amplify Your Ambitions Contest

SoFi, Kelsea Ballerini and CMA have partnered to launch the Amplify Your Ambitions Contest.

Today through April 30, artists can enter here for a chance to win the $200,000 grand prize or one of two $50,000 runner-up prizes. Three finalists will be selected by a panel of judges that includes Ballerini, Shane McAnally and Vivian Tu, SoFi’s Chief of Financial Empowerment and New York Times bestselling author. The winner will be revealed on June 4, when all three finalists perform in front of the judges at an intimate concert in Nashville.

Rhonda Vincent, The Grascals, More Set To Play Blue Highway Fest In October

Blue Highway Fest has revealed the first round of artists in the lineup for this year’s event in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Oct. 8-11.

The 2026 lineup includes Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, The Grascals, and The Cleverlys, with the festival’s namesake and host band Blue Highway anchoring the weekend throughout.

The festival will open Oct. 8 with a songwriters’ night on the downtown 3rd Street stage. With performers to be announced, the event will highlight roots music songwriting, and also pay tribute to Ronnie Bowman, who was set to perform at this year’s festival but tragically passed away on March 22.

“This year we are listening to our fans and getting back to four full days of bluegrass, roots and Americana music with the major focus on bluegrass,” says Wayne Taylor of Blue Highway.

Festival tickets as well as camping and RV parking go on sale today (April 15). Additional performers, as well as daily tickets and schedules, will be announced at a later date.

Music Fights Fraud Alliance Elects New Leaders & Welcomes New Members

The Music Fights Fraud Alliance, the industry’s united coalition to fight fraud, recently welcomed 12 new member companies, announced new leadership and has expanded its mission to address publishing-specific fraud as it continues to evolve to address fraud across the industry.

Having more than doubled its membership since 2025 to more than 35 organizations across the global music supply chain, the Alliance now reflects a significant share of the world’s digital music traffic, enabling a more unified approach to mitigate and deter suspicious and fraudulent activity.

To guide member growth and expansion, the Alliance announced its new elected leaders who will help govern the nonprofit this year. Stephen White, Chief Product Officer at EMPIRE, will serve as Chair, and Darren Owen, Chief Operating Officer at FUGA, was elected as Treasurer. Portia Sabin, President of the Music Business Association, and Patra Sinner, General Counsel at Symphonic, will continue to serve respectively as Vice Chair and Secretary.

The new leadership team will oversee the Alliance’s most significant growth to date, welcoming 12 new members who represent a diverse cross-section of the industry. The new members are ASCAP, Believe Music Publishing, Ditto Music, GEMA, GYROGroup, ICE Services, Limbo Music, Roc Nation Distribution, SOCAN, Songtrust, SonoSuite and SoundExchange.

Gram Parsons To Be Inducted Posthumously Into Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Gram Parsons will be inducted posthumously into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, specifically in the Early Influence category, honoring his influence on the American music scene with his fusion of country and rock. Parsons passed away at age 26 in 1973.

Born Ingram Cecil Connor III in Winter Haven, Florida, Parsons was an architect of what he called “Cosmic American Music,” a fusion of country, rock, folk, and soul. He first gained recognition with the International Submarine Band before joining The Byrds, where he helped steer the group toward a country-influenced sound on their 1968 album Sweetheart of the Rodeo, widely regarded as a cornerstone of country rock. He later co-founded the Flying Burrito Brothers, whose albums The Gilded Palace of Sin and Burrito Deluxe further established and advanced the genre.

In 1973, Parsons released his debut solo album, GP, featuring Elvis Presley’s TCB Band and introducing his notable collaborator Emmylou Harris. His second album, Grievous Angel, released posthumously, continued this musical legacy and reached the Billboard Top 200.

Despite limited commercial success during his lifetime, Parsons’ influence has proven far-reaching. He was among the first to integrate traditional country elements, such as pedal steel guitar and close harmonies, into a rock framework, bridging two distinct musical traditions.

Emmylou Harris carried forward his musical vision with critical and commercial success, while his work also influenced bands such as the Eagles and Poco. In later decades, his impact extended to artists including Wilco, Son Volt, Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams, Elvis Costello, and Beck, many of whom contributed to the tribute album Return of the Grievous Angel.

There are 18 inductees entering the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year. The main performer class includes Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division / New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.

The remaining 10 honorees are selected by Rock Hall committees and recognized in three special categories: Early Influence, Musical Excellence and the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Parsons is among those honored in the Early Influence category, alongside Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah and MC Lyte. The Musical Excellence Award will go to Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller and Rick Rubin, while Ed Sullivan will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

The induction ceremony is set for Nov. 14 in Los Angeles.

Jamey Johnson To Hit The Road On ‘Traveling Truebadour’ Tour

Jamey Johnson will hit the road on his “Traveling Truebadour” headlining tour, kicking off this May.

The tour begins on May 8 at the Anderson Music Hall in Hiawassee, Georgia, and currently runs through Oct. 11 at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. Thirty-one shows have been announced, with more being added. The run will also make stops in Virginia, Texas, Illinois and many more.

Tickets go on sale Friday (April 17).

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of his major label debut, The Dollar. The tour will feature songs from his latest album, Midnight Gasoline, new music from his upcoming album and fan-favorite hits.

Ernest Raises Over $207k For Second Harvest Food Bank At 3rd Annual ERNvitational

ERNEST hosted his third annual ERNvitational yesterday (April 13), raising over $207,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank.

Zach Top, Vince Gill, Tracy Lawrence, HARDY, Glenny Balls and more attended the event, which was held at Old Hickory Country Club. In addition to golfing, the event featured dinner and a live performance from ERNEST and friends.

“I’m proud to play a small part in supporting the work that Second Harvest does serving the community in Middle Tennessee,” ERNEST shares. “I’ve seen firsthand how important it is, especially over the last years, and am grateful that our friends here in town come out every year to support it too.”

Ketch Secor Documentary ‘Louder Than Guns’ To Get Theatrical Release Through Abramorama

Abramorama has acquired the North American theatrical rights to Louder Than Guns, a documentary from Executive Producers Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show, Former NPR Morning Edition host David Greene, and director Doug Pray. 

The film will open on May 8 at DCTV Firehouse Cinema in New York City, followed by a North American rollout to additional cities. In addition to the rollout, the film’s creators will co-present in Nashville with Voices for a Safer Tennessee, a non-profit committed to protecting communities and respecting the Second Amendment. On May 18, a 60-minute version of the film will air on PBS Nashville and affiliate stations as part of the celebrated Reel South documentary series.

Louder Than Guns moves the heated conversation around gun violence and firearm safety in America away from political divisiveness and toward real dialogue.The film is a journey through rural, urban, and suburban America that humanizes all sides of this country’s polarized gun debate through the power of music, civil discourse, and unexpected common ground. The film tackles the extremely complicated and sensitive subject of gun violence with an open and all-encompassing approach, inviting people with different points of view to share their thoughts and experiences in conversation without judgment.

The impetus for Louder Than Guns began in the wake of another horrific mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville. Immediately afterward, Secor felt compelled to speak out on gun reform. He wrote an op-ed in the New York Times entitled, “Country Music Can Lead America Out of Its Obsession with Guns” which caught the attention of Ketch’s friend, public radio journalist David Greene, and the two set out to start an open dialogue about gun rights and gun violence in America. Film director Doug Pray followed Ketch and Greene as the band toured rural and urban communities, naming the documentary Louder Than Guns after a song Ketch wrote for the victims of the Covenant shooting.

“After the Covenant shooting, I felt like silence was no longer an option,” says Secor. “But I also knew that shouting into the void wasn’t the answer. What David and I set out to find – and what Doug so beautifully captured – is the possibility of real conversation in a country that feels like it’s forgotten how to have one. Music has always been how Americans talk to each other across divides, and I believe it still can be.”

MusiCares & JED Foundation Launch New Suicide Prevention Training & Mental Health Resources

MusiCares has partnered with The JED Foundation to launch a digital microsite providing suicide prevention and mental health resources tailored to music professionals.

The microsite, launching today, is available here.

The new site serves as a dedicated hub for articles, self-guided learning and support tools tailored to the realities of life in music. Resources on the site address issues such as financial instability, grief, isolation, the pressures of touring and the emotional toll of overwork.

It also features a self-paced suicide prevention training course created by JED’s mental health and suicide prevention experts for artists, crew members, managers, and support teams. Built in a microlearning format, the course guides participants through recognizing warning signs, starting supportive conversations, responding when someone is in distress, and understanding when to escalate concerns and connect to available resources.

According to MusiCares’ 2025 Wellness in Music Survey, 11.4% of music professionals reported suicidal ideation in the last year, up from 8% in 2024 and more than double the rate seen in the general U.S. population. The data also shows that one in six respondents lost a colleague to suicide in the past year. These findings underscore an urgent need for culturally competent and industry-specific mental health support.

“The numbers are heartbreaking, but they tell a story we cannot ignore,” says Theresa Wolters, Executive Director of MusiCares. “When 11.4% of our peers report thoughts of suicide, it’s not just a statistic, it’s a call to action.
