The Highwomen Surprise-Release New Album ‘Live at The Gorge 2023’
/by Lorie HollabaughThe Highwomen, the group formed by Amanda Shires, Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris and Natalie Hemby, surprise-released a new album, Live at The Gorge 2023, out everywhere today (May 29).
Along with the digital album, a new live music video for “Redesigning Women” is available now. The album arrives ahead of the group’s reunion performance as they headline the final night of Carlile’s “Echoes Through the Canyon” weekend at The Gorge Amphitheatre on Sunday (May 31). Sunday’s show will be the group’s first performance together since the 2023 edition of the festival, and will also feature Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Wynonna Judd and Brittney Spencer.
“We weren’t planning on releasing a live album,” shares the group, “But in preparing for our upcoming reunion we recently listened back to The Gorge, and whatever happened out there that night came rushing right back…the adrenaline, the near misses, the harmonies locking in at exactly the right second, and the sound of thousands of people singing like they meant every word with their whole chest.
“The recordings sound wild, emotional, electric, human and exactly how that night felt…We could really feel the connection, the community and that rare oneness where everybody carried each other for a little while. And maybe that matters right now because when the world feels like it’s coming apart at the seams, music still gives us a place to meet each other in the middle of it all, to sing too loud, cry in public, laugh at dumb shit, hold each other upright, and walk back out into the world feeling a little less alone a little more whole and a little more ready to keep fighting for each other. Just us, the crowd, the canyon, and whatever that feeling was. We sure hope you feel it.”
The foursome made their live debut in 2019 at Loretta Lynn’s 87th Birthday Concert and have since performed at the Newport Folk Festival with Dolly Parton, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Howard Stern Show and The Kennedy Center Honors. Their self-titled debut album which features collaborations with Sheryl Crow and Yola debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and won Album of the Year at the Americana Music Honors & Awards and Best Country Song (“Crowded Table”) at the 63rd Annual Grammys.
The Highwomen will also join Maren Morris for a special performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre later this summer.

Dax To Kick Off ‘The Anger Management Tour’ In September
/by Lorie HollabaughDax. Photo: Annie Devine
Breakout artist Dax will launch his next headlining run, “The Anger Management Tour,” starting this fall.
Kicking off in September, the tour is set to visit 46 cities across North America, including Toronto, Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, Dallas, Boston, Huntsville and more, wrapping with a show at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl on Dec. 13. Tickets are on sale now here.
Earlier this month, Dax released his gripping track “Caught You In The Bed,” which was inspired by the emotional weight of discovering infidelity firsthand, and explores the complicated feelings surrounding a blindsiding betrayal from a partner. Penned by Dax, the song’s honest and vulnerable storytelling captures the relatable conflict that comes with broken trust. “Caught You In The Bed” builds on a string of personal releases from Dax this year, including “God, Can You Hear Me?” and “Temptation.”
“The Anger Management Tour” follows Dax’s “Lonely Dirt Road Tour” last fall, which sold out all 16 dates across the U.S. and Canada, including stops in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and more. This summer, Dax will make his CMA Fest debut on June 6 at the Chevy Vibes Stage

emeraldwave, a wellness-focused label under Sun Label Group, creates music designed to help listeners relax, focus and reconnect with themselves. From calming ambient tracks to projects built around specific sound frequencies, the label’s releases are intended to support everything from anxiety relief to better sleep and concentration. Unlike many wellness platforms, emeraldwave’s music is available on major streaming services, making it accessible to anyone looking for a moment of calm during a busy day.
“We wanted to make music that had a purpose,” Blake Davis, General Manager, Green Hill Music, shares with MusicRow.
That purpose has shaped many of emeraldwave’’s releases. While some projects offer listeners relaxing background music for everyday activities, others are built around specific wellness goals. The label has released collections focused on anxiety relief, depression support, trauma recovery and ADHD, incorporating techniques such as frequency-based sound design and bilateral stimulation, which alternates audio between ears to encourage relaxation and focus.
The company’s roots trace back to Green Hill Music’s extensive catalog of instrumental and ambient recordings. According to Davis, the company had long produced music that listeners often associated with relaxation, including the instrumental and ambient recordings frequently heard in spas, resorts and other public settings. As the team considered how to better define that catalog, they began to see an opportunity to create a brand centered specifically on wellness.
That vision took shape around the same time the COVID-19 pandemic increased conversations surrounding mental health and self-care. Rather than creating another subscription-based wellness platform, Davis said the goal was to develop music that anyone could access through the streaming services they already use. The result was emeraldwave.
One of emeraldwave’s most distinctive offerings is its collection of frequency-based releases, which are designed around specific wellness goals. Davis said the label researches frequencies and sound-based techniques that have been associated with various emotional and mental wellness benefits before developing projects centered on those concepts.
“I started researching different hertz and then going, ‘What is this used for? How does it help people?’ And that’s really what kind of informed what project was coming next,” Davis shares.
That research has inspired a variety of releases aimed at addressing common challenges listeners face in their daily lives. The label’s 432 Hz project focuses on anxiety relief, while 528 Hz was created for listeners dealing with depression. More recently, emeraldwave released a bilateral stimulation project designed to help listeners with ADHD, using audio that alternates between the left and right ear to create a calming effect when heard through headphones.
Rather than simply creating relaxing music, Davis said the team looks for areas where listeners may need additional support. “What would be most helpful for what we hear people are dealing with?” he says. “We’re so fast-paced all the time. How often are you truly taking time to yourself?”
Accessibility has remained a key part of emeraldwave’s mission. According to Davis, the decision to integrate into existing streaming platforms was intentional, allowing listeners to access emeraldwave’s catalog without additional memberships or commitments.
“We wanted stuff that anybody could use. They don’t have to wait for a class. They can do it in their car, their office, on their phone, wherever. There really is something for everybody,” Davis says.
The catalog includes playlists built around activities ranging from exercise and meditation to cooking and studying, as well as the label’s “Rock Me Gently” and “Rock Me Classical” series, which reimagine familiar songs through calming instrumental arrangements.
emeraldwave remains deeply connected to Nashville’s music community. According to Davis, many of the label’s projects are created by local musicians, producers and arrangers who have spent years working throughout the city’s music industry.
Producer Ron Sorbo has helped shape many of emeraldwave’s frequency-based releases, while artists such as Grammy-nominated composer David Arkenstone and pianist Jim Brickman have also contributed to the label’s catalog. Davis noted that many of the musicians involved have extensive experience performing, recording and arranging music across a variety of genres.
“There’s plenty of people here in Nashville that are really good at it,” Davis says. “A lot of people probably don’t realize that this kind of music is being created right here.”
Looking ahead, emeraldwave has several wellness-focused releases planned throughout the year, including projects centered on reducing stress and tension, emotional healing and nervous system support. Davis said the team continues to identify areas where listeners may benefit from intentional wellness-focused music and develop projects around those needs.
While emeraldwave’s catalog continues to grow, Davis said the label’s purpose remains unchanged.
“Here’s something that’s created in Nashville, from a Nashville label, using real Nashville musicians, and is really intentional about wanting to help people,” Davis says.
Whether through frequency-based releases, curated playlists or instrumental recordings, emeraldwave aims to provide listeners with accessible tools for relaxation, focus and mindfulness. As conversations surrounding mental health and wellness continue to evolve, the label remains committed to its mission of “nourishing the human spirit through sound.”
Brenda Lee’s Classic Catalog Arrives On Streaming Platforms For First Time
/by Lorie HollabaughBrenda Lee‘s catalog is coming to streaming for the first time with more than a dozen albums arriving over the coming months via MCA/UMe.
Launching today, Decades Vol. 1 serves as the first installment in the rollout, and features four landmark albums that showcase Lee’s artistic evolution across multiple decades and genres. The collections spans heartbreak ballads, countrypolitan classics and modern country reinventions, and highlights some of the most defining moments of Lee’s career. Decades Vol. 1 includes: Too Many Rivers (1965); New Sunrise (1973); L.A. Sessions (1976) and Even Better (1980).
Originally released by Decca Records in 1965, Too Many Rivers marked the 13th studio album of Lee’s career and her transition from teen pop sensation into the sophisticated “Nashville Sound.” Produced by Lee’s longtime collaborator Owen Bradley, whom she first began working with at just 13, the album features the crossover hit title track which reached No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the AC chart. The album showcased Lee’s versatility through a mix of contemporary pop favorites and classic standards, including renditions of “It’s Not Unusual,” “Stormy Weather (Keeps Raining All The Time),” “Hello, Dolly!” and “Unforgettable.”
New Sunrise was released at the height of Lee’s country music resurgence, further solidifying her place as one of the era’s standout crossover artists. Lee’s twenty-third album, the project blended countrypolitan production with contemporary pop influences, and featured interpretations of songs like Stevie Wonder’s “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” and Paul McCartney’s “My Love.” The project became Lee’s second consecutive Top 10 release on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, spending 25 weeks on the chart and peaking at No. 7. Driven by the hit singles “Sunday Sunrise” and “Wrong Ideas”—both of which reached the Top 10 on the country chart—New Sunrise further cemented Lee’s place within country while expanding her visibility across TV, touring circuits, and Las Vegas performances throughout the decade.
Released in 1976 as Lee’s 26th studio album, L.A. Sessions found her embracing a polished pop-oriented sound after several years as a country hitmaker. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Snuff Garrett, known for his work with Cher, the album reflected a stylistic shift toward upbeat West Coast pop arrangements while continuing to showcase Lee’s versatile vocal style. The album became Lee’s fifth release to chart on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and featured the singles “Takin’ What I Can Get” and “Ruby’s Lounge.”
Lee’s 28th studio album Even Better reestablished her presence on the country charts at the start of a new decade. Produced by Ron Chancey, the 1980 album embraced a more contemporary country sound across a collection of modern country compositions, including songs written by acclaimed songwriter Rafe Van Hoy. Even Better delivered Lee’s first country Top 10 hits in several years with “Tell Me What It’s Like,” which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and “The Cowgirl and the Dandy,” which reached No. 10. A third single, “Keeping Me Warm For You,” followed in 1982, helping introduce Lee to a new generation of country audiences.
Over the next several months, more than a dozen key albums from across Lee’s celebrated catalog spanning the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s will arrive on streaming platforms for the very first time, bringing another chapter of her groundbreaking career into the digital era.

Singer-songwriter Kinsley has inked with MCA. Alongside the signing, she has released her new single and performance video, “Pieces of Me.”
Written by Kinsley, David DeVaul and Jack Hummel, and produced by Ryan Kohn, the tune reflects Kinsley’s honest and emotional style centered on healing and connection. She first introduced fans to her music through her “Midnight Sessions” on YouTube, where she showcased her songwriting.
“I started writing poetry as a way to process what I was feeling. My family was dealt many cards over the years, both good and bad, and poetry had a way of making it all make sense. The silver lining became easier to find when I wrote it all down,” says Kinsley.
“I once heard someone say that ‘the past is a map of how to love you,’ and the more people I met the more I realized that truth. We are all just echos of fragmented pieces and there’s beauty in the way it binds us all together,” she continues.
Kinsley’s journey has taken her from California to North Carolina, where she learned music on her family’s land, then to Texas during high school, and finally to Tennessee, where she now lives with her family.
“Music is what saved my life, and so I tend to meet it at a place of confession, hoping it saves others along the way. With ‘Pieces of Me’ I finally get to admit that at times I was searching for something I can’t remember anymore, and that in and of itself is freeing,” Kinsley adds. “I encourage you to think of this song as a letter to time, that’s the truest way these lyrics are meant to be heard.”
