Description: The role is based in Washington, D.C., and will report to NMPA’s General Counsel. This attorney will help manage NMPA’s active, ongoing and future negotiations of licenses and settlements. They will oversee NMPA’s anti-piracy program, including working within the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and be involved in Copyright Royalty Board activities on behalf of music publishers and songwriters, as well as support the litigation, legislative and policy initiatives of the NMPA. Requirements include: Minimum 5+ years of experience as an attorney (intellectual property, law firm or music industry legal background preferred), expertise in copyright law, strong negotiation and drafting skills in the music and/or digital space, ability to communicate effectively with governmental bodies, digital music services and music publishers, ability to think strategically and creatively about the future of the music industry, including solutions to legal, data-based and policy issues, and member in good standing of, or ability to waive into, the District of Columbia Bar Association.
