Joy Williams Reveals 2019 Tour Dates, New Album ‘Front Porch’

Joy Williams

Joy Williams will launch a new headlining tour Feb. 25 in Phoenix, Arizona. The tour will conclude with two shows at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley on May 3-4. The shows lead up to the release of her upcoming album, Front Porch, due later this spring on Sensibility/Thirty Tigers. The album, produced by Kenneth Pattengale (The Milk Carton Kids) and engineered by Matt Ross-Spang, was recorded in Nashville while Williams was pregnant with her second child.

“So much of this is about coming home,” says Williams. “Whether to a physical place or to yourself. The lines on my face, I can see them more clearly now. But a lot of them are laugh lines. This record feels like breathing more deeply into who I am. Come what may.”

Williams has earned four Grammy awards, and released four solo albums (and four EPs) since her debut in 2001. She was formerly half of The Civil Wars from 2009-2014.

Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. local time.

Since 2012, CMA has invited more than 40 songwriters and artists overseas to familiarize audiences with the breadth and heritage of the country genre. The CMA Songwriters Series will continue to present songwriters to international fans with a focus on the importance of the craft of songwriting.

“We are excited to invest in artists who are building international careers and to help place them in front of fans in multiple cities who seldom experience Nashville artists live,” said Milly Olykan, CMA Vice President, International Relations and Development. “Launching the first Introducing Nashville tour with these distinct artists, each of which occupy such different lanes musically, illustrates the broad range of sounds coming out of Nashville and the country genre.”
