MTSU’s WMOT Roots Radio Launches Pop-Up Live Music Series

MTSU’s WMOT Roots Radio 89.5 will host their first show of a Pop-Up Live Music Series this Friday (Dec. 7) at the Walnut House in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, featuring New Reveille and Sean McConnell.

The Pop-Up Show series is part of WMOT’s efforts to provide even more unique live music experiences to a larger audience.

“Our team at WMOT is excited about sharing this new series of WMOT Pop-Up Shows with our listeners in Murfreesboro and throughout our 40-county listening area,” said Val Hoeppner, executive director of WMOT. “This new series will be part of the celebration of our 50th year on the air, but more importantly it’s our way of bringing even more amazing live Americana music to our members, listeners and community.”

The intimate event venue is located at 116 N. Walnut St. in Murfreesboro and the show will be streamed live on 89.5 FM and wmot.org.

WMOT members are encouraged to reserve spots via an email invitation, and the general public is invited to attend and will be admitted at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 4 p.m. Friday and the show runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Beverages will be available for purchase.

CRS Reveals New Faces Of Country Music Class Of 2019


Country Radio Seminar officials have announced the CRS 2019 New Faces of Country Music® Class of 2019. Jimmie Allen (Stoney Creek), Russell Dickerson (Triple Tigers), Lindsay Ell (Stoney Creek), LANCO (Arista), and Dylan Scott (Curb) will all perform as part of this year’s New Faces of Country Music® Dinner and Show, to be held Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 during Country Radio Seminar at the downtown Omni Nashville.

Co-sponsored by the Academy of Country Music and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the annual new artist showcase event officially closes out the seminar and remains one of the most anticipated events each year at CRS. Performances will be powered by Live Nation and will take place in the CRS Performance Hall.

Registration for Country Radio Seminar (CRS) 2019 is currently available at the rate of $599 and is available at countryradioseminar.com. This year marks the 50th annual Country Radio Seminar.

 

Columbia Nashville Adds Two To Promo Department

Senior Vice President, Promotion, Columbia Nashville Shane Allen has announced the addition of Lauren Longbine as Director, Southeast Promotion to the label. Lyndsay Church has been named Director, Northeast Promotion, effective immediately. Both positions will report to Allen.

“The entire Columbia team is extremely excited to have Lauren join our staff. Her reputation as a promotion all-star and sincere passion for her artists and their music is undisputed,” he said.

Longbine joins from Big Machine Label Group, where she served as Director of Southwest/Midwest Regional Promotion & Marketing, leading promotions effort in the region for artists including Florida Georgia Line, Brett Young, and Danielle Bradbery. A University of Kansas alumna, she was also previously an account executive at Steel City Media.

“I’m very grateful to Steve Hodges and Shane Allen for this exciting opportunity to take on a new region in the next chapter of my career. The Columbia Nashville team is white-hot right now, and I can’t wait to hit the ground running!” enthused Longbine.

Longbine will assume her role beginning Jan. 1, 2019.

Church joined Columbia Nashville as Manager, Regional Promotion in 2016, supporting the label’s roster of artists including Luke Combs, Tim McGraw, Maren Morris, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Tenille Townes. Her previous stops include Red Light Management, Capitol Records Nashville, and Loomis, Sayles & Company.

Country Radio Seminar Reveals Agenda First Look For 2019

Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. has revealed the first look of its agenda for Country Radio Seminar’s 50th Anniversary event (CRS 2019), to be held Feb. 13-15 at the Omni Nashville.

The agenda for the milestone three-day event is comprised of appearances by some of the format’s biggest superstars, including a performance by Blake Shelton at the newly added Warner Music Group luncheon, a 60-minute discussion with featured speaker Jason Aldean (sponsored by BMI), and performances by some of country music’s fastest rising stars; five of which are the New Faces of Country Music Class of 2019.

Three label luncheons will also take place and will be presented by Warner Music Nashville on Wednesday, Feb. 13, UMG Nashville on Thursday, Feb. 14, and Big Machine Label Group on Friday, Feb. 15. Amazon Music will also return for Amazon Music Presents: Country Heat at CRS. Talent lineups for the label luncheons and the Amazon Music Presents: Country Heat at CRS show will be announced in the coming weeks.

Other agenda items include informative panels ranging from smart speakers to time management, industry discussions, workshops, and boot camps; a broad range of topics relevant to today’s Country radio industry is to be covered, including social media and digital innovations, PPM, brand strategies, leadership skills, the relationships and economics of the radio and record industries and much more. A cutting-edge research presentation will also return.

Constituents will be offered numerous networking opportunities, including the CMA annual Welcome Reception, five mentoring breakfasts, nightly showcases, and more. Bob Kingsley’s Acoustic Alley will also return, providing an intimate performance by some of the format’s top songwriters in an acoustic, in-the-row setting.

In light of this year being the 50th Anniversary event and the institution’s five decades of bringing the radio and record industries together, many surprise performances, special guests and extraordinary moments are expected to take place over the three days, making this year’s event a stand out year.

iHeartMedia Announces Post-Chapter 11 Board Of Directors

iHeartMedia has revealed the members selected to serve on its Board of Directors upon its emergence from Chapter 11.

Subject to confirmation of the Company’s Plan of Reorganization, the Board’s Directors will include:

Bob Pittman, Chairman of the Board of Directors: Mr. Pittman is the current CEO and Board Chairman of iHeartMedia. Mr. Pittman was formerly COO of AOL Time Warner, Inc. after serving as President and COO of America Online, Inc. Mr. Pittman also served as the CEO of MTV Networks and was the Cofounder and programmer who led the team that created MTV.

Jay Rasulo, Lead Independent Director: Mr. Rasulo was formerly an executive at Walt Disney Company from 1986 through 2015, having spent his last five years at Disney as the CFO and Senior Executive Vice President. During his tenure at Walt Disney, among other roles, he served as the Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. Mr. Rasulo is a graduate of Columbia University and received his MA & MBA from the University of Chicago.

Gary Barber: Mr. Barber served as the Chairman and CEO of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (MGM) from 2010 through March 2018. Prior to his role at MGM, he was the Cofounder of Spyglass Entertainment, which he founded in 1998. Mr. Barber received his undergraduate and post graduate degrees from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.

Rich Bressler: Mr. Bressler is the current President, COO and CFO of iHeartMedia. Before joining iHeart, Mr. Bressler was a Managing Director at THL. Prior to joining THL, Mr. Bressler’s experience included serving as Senior Executive Vice President and CFO of Viacom, Inc., as Chairman and CEO of Time Warner Digital Media, and as Executive Vice President and CFO of Time Warner Inc.

Brad Gerstner: Mr. Gerstner is the Founder and CEO of Altimeter Capital, an internet, software, and travel focused investment firm founded in 2008. Prior to launching Altimeter, Mr. Gerstner was the Cofounder of three internet search start-ups. Mr. Gerstner received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Sean Mahoney: Mr. Mahoney is a private investor. He currently serves as a director at two public companies, Aptiv plc and Arconic Inc., and at post-bankruptcy Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. His prior board service includes Delphi Automotive plc and Formula One Holdings. Mr. Mahoney was a partner at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he headed the Financial Sponsors Group, and Vice Chairman, Global Banking, at Deutsche Bank Securities. Mr. Mahoney is a graduate of the University of Chicago and Oxford University, which he attended on a Rhodes Scholarship.

Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan: Ms. Sivaramakrishnan is the founder and CEO of Drawbridge, a company focused on designing quantitative algorithms for numerous areas, including computational advertising. Prior to founding Drawbridge, Ms. Sivaramakrishnan was a Senior Research Scientist at AdMob which was acquired by Google in 2010. Ms. Sivaramakrishnan has her Ph.D. from Stanford University.

iHeartMedia’s current Board of Directors will remain in place until the company emerges from Chapter 11, at which time the new Board will assume its responsibilities.
