ASCAP Elects Board of Directors
ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, has announced the results of its Board of Directors election. ASCAP President and Chairman of the Board Paul Williams announced the 12 writer and 12 publisher members elected to serve on the Board for a two-year term, beginning April 1, 2015.
Newly elected writer member in the at-large field is composer/producer Marcus Miller. In addition to Paul Williams, the writer members who were re-elected in the at-large field are: songwriter Marilyn Bergman; composer Richard Bellis; composer Bruce Broughton; songwriter-producer Desmond Child; composer Alf Clausen; composer Dan Foliart; composer Alex Shapiro; songwriter Valerie Simpson; songwriter Jimmy Webb; and composer Doug Wood.
The publisher directors re-elected in the at-large field are: Martin Bandier, Sony/ATV; Caroline Bienstock, Bienstock Publishing; Barry Coburn, Ten Ten Music; Laurent Hubert, BMG Gold Songs; Dean Kay, Lichelle Music; Leeds Levy, Leeds Music; Mary Megan Peer, peermusic; Matt Pincus, SONGS Music Publishing; Irwin Z. Robinson, Cromwell Music; Michael Sammis, Universal Music Publishing Group; and Cameron Strang, Warner Brothers Music. Re-elected in the Symphonic and Concert field is publisher James Kendrick, Schott Music Corporation/European American Music Corporation.
ASCAP is the only U.S. performing rights organization created and controlled by composers, songwriters and music publishers, with a Board of Directors elected by and from the membership.






There are tough decisions to be made among the platters on tap this week.

Nashville’s Musicians Hall of Fame will soon house a Grammy Museum Gallery, courtesy of a partnership with music executive and philanthropist Mike Curb, MusicRow has confirmed. The Musicians Hall of Fame is housed within the Municipal Auditorium.
Kacey Musgraves, along with fellow artists D’Angelo and the Vanguard, and Songhoy Blues have been added to the artist lineup for Bonnaroo 2015.

The deadline to apply for Leadership Music’s Class of 2016 is Tuesday, March 31.
A celebration of life has been planned for Asa Albert Jolson, former owner of Al Jolson Enterprises and Masterlink Studio, who passed away March 4 in Nashville, Tenn., after a two month bout with pneumonia. He was 67.


Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, Reba, George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert will be honored with the Academy of Country Music’s (ACM) 50th Anniversary Milestone Award commemorating groundbreaking career achievements in their awards history.
