Marcus King, Slash, Marty Stuart and more are set to perform at the Sho-Bud Live Showcase sponsored by Lightning 100 on Oct. 27 at the Ryman Auditorium.
The special evening will celebrate the legacy of Sho-Bud pedal steel guitars and the artists, songs and recordings that helped create the Nashville Sound. Through performances, storytelling, collaborations, and all-star jams, they will honor the musicians and music that established pedal steel guitar as one of the defining voices of American music.
Other artists on the lineup include Lloyd Green, Skunk Baxter, Dan Dugmore, Don Felder, Rocco DeLuca, Eddy Dunlap, Sarah Jory, Andrea Whitt, Hatfield Rain and more. Tickets are on sale now here. Proceeds will go to Project Harmony, The Peter Frampton Myositis Foundation, The Cerebral Palsy Foundation, The Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network and Friends Life Community.
The Sho-Bud pedal steel helped shape the sound of country music from its infancy with its unique tone and pitch-changing characteristics, and the instrument also added interesting musical textures to rock, gospel, pop, and jazz, used by acts such as the Beach Boys, Yes, Poco, the Eagles, and others. In addition to steel guitars, the company’s trademark ‘heart, spade, diamond, and club’ icons could be found on flat-top guitars, electric guitars, Dobros (“Sho-bro’s”), banjos and amplifiers. Custom Sho-Bud guitars were built for music legends such as George Jones, Ernest Tubb, Roy Roy Clark, many Opry stars, and others.
