The Band Perry Honored by the NMPA

The NMPA recently presented The Band Perry with Gold & Platinum songwriting awards for their hits “Postcard from Paris,” “Done.,” and “If I Die Young.” The presentations were made after The Band Perry had spent the day on Capitol Hill, discussing the need to protect music creators with The Recording Academy.

Nicole Flammia Joins Big Machine Label Group

Nicole Flammia has joined Big Machine Label Group as Creative Director Video & Photo Production. Flammia joins the Creative Team, including Sandi Spika Borchetta, BMLG’s Sr. VP Creative, in working with BMLG’s roster of artists to manage music video and photo shoot production, as well as visual content needs.

Sandi Spika Borchetta comments, “We are very excited to have Nicole join our Creative Team. I have worked with her for years as Executive Producer for other companies. I am very honored to have her join our side of the creative video and photo process.”

Since 2010, Flammia served as Executive Producer of the music video division and Client Liaison at TackleBox Films. Her career also includes stops at Sony Music Nashville, Aristo Media, and Picture Vision.

Date Set for 9th Annual ACM Honors

The 9th Annual ACM Honors will take place Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium (116 5th Ave. N.) The evening will include musical tribute performances and award presentations in celebration of the non-televised award recipients and winners from the 50th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Special Award recipients, Studio Recording Award winners, Industry Award winners, and the Songwriter of the Year Award winner will be announced at a later date.

Online auction marketplace Royalty Exchange has launched Accelerating Royalty Insights with Analytics (ARIA), a new online application for music royalty owners and publishers. The tool allows publishers, songwriters and artists to determine out how much Spotify, Pandora and others are paying them per play.

Initially developed for internal use for investors needing analytic research on royalty streams in Royalty Exchange auctions, it is now available for free to individual royalty owners and fee-based for publishers.

“Every royalty owner and publisher should add this tool to their arsenal as they battle for their fair share of royalty payments and collections,” said Sean Peace, President of Royalty Exchange. “The light is shining bright on the issue of royalty rates right now as we wait to see what happens at the Department of Justice with regard to the potential consent decree changes. Artists like Taylor Swift and Bono are also helping to keep this issue in the forefront as they battle over what they are getting paid by streaming services. ARIA helps them tackle these issues by providing them with key information that has been hard to pull together in the past.”

Designed to simplify the traditional royalty analysis process, Royalty Exchange asserts ARIA as a tool that breaks down royalty streams, displaying where royalties are coming from, who is paying what and how much they are worth.

City Winery, Newport Folk Presents® and the Americana Music Association have partnered to promote a series of concerts titled State of the Union, which will take place at City Winery venues in Chicago, Napa, Nashville, and New York City. One night per month in each city, State of the Union will highlight artists whose musicianship set the standard for live performance.

Last night (Jan. 13), the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival announced its 2015 lineup via telephone hotline where artists were revealed for callers to share on social media.

Slated for June 11-14 the Manchester, Tenn., the festival revealed top acts including Billy Joel, Mumford & Sons, Robert Plant & the Sensational Space Shifters, Alabama Shakes, Ben Folds and Sturgill Simpson. More announcements are expected.

Tickets will go on sale Saturday, Jan. 17 at 12 p.m. ET. Payment plans are available for VIP ($1500 per pair) and general admission (opens at 299.50 before graduating to $325). Camping equipment and even tour busses are available for rent. Single day packages and shuttle schedules will be announced and go on-sale later in the spring.

The four-day festival hosts multiple stages for crowds in excess of 90,000.
