WMBAThe Women’s Music Business Association will host the WMBA Consignment Boutique Fundraiser on Friday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at ASCAP (2 Music Square West). The boutique is the nonprofit organization’s primary fundraiser for the year to support its membership programs.

paisleyDallas-based singer-songwriter Amy Bowen is suing country singers Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood over their 2011 hit “Remind Me,” reports the Nashville City Paper. At one time, Bowen lived in Nashville, performing under the name Lizza Connor. She claims she penned “Remind Me” in 2007, and that the 2011 release ripped off her composition.
According to court documents, Bowen’s song “Remind Me” was copyrighted in 2008. Bowen claims she performed the song publicly 19 times — including a performance during a workshop where songwriters Kelley Lovelace and Chris Dubois were in attendance. Lovelace and Dubois were listed as co-writers with Paisley on “Remind Me.” The suit asks for proceeds in excess of $10 million from the song.

MusicRow No. 1 Song

Eric Church sits on top of this week’s MusicRow chart with his latest single “Like Jesus Does.”
Written by Casey Beathard and Monty Criswell, the title is the fifth release from Church’s 2013 ACM Album of the Year, Chief, which competed in the same category for the second consecutive year.

MusicRow’s Robert K. Oermann gave “Like Jesus Does” a glowing review in January 2013:

I love this artist so much it’s ridiculous. This moody slice of audio perfection showcases one of his most expressive vocal performances to date. The lyric portrays a sinner who is loved unconditionally despite his shortcomings. Records like this are why he is the future of country music.

Church recently released a live album on April 9, although it does not contain his most recent No. 1 single it does provide a mixture of other hits continuing to walk the line between rowdy and redemptive. A vinyl of the live album and two bonus tracks were released exclusively on Record Store Day (April 20).
