Chaz Cardigan Inks Label Deal With Capitol Records/Loud Robot
Nashville-based artist Chaz Cardigan has inked a label deal with Capitol Records/Loud Robot, and has released his new single, “Not OK!” Cardigan is managed by Nashville’s Hard 8/Working Group. Loud Robot is the new label from J.J. Abrams’ production company Bad Robot.
Chaz and Todd Clark (Elle King, Noah Kahan, The Score) penned “Not OK!” while Cardigan produced the track and played every instrument. Jamie Lidell (Lianne La Havas, Hailee Steinfeld) provided additional production.
“Not OK!” is an infectious celebration of human imperfection. Cardigan explains, “I started going to therapy last September, and it made me reflect on where certain tendencies of mine came from. ‘Not OK!’ is about realizing that some of these things are just a part of me—and that it’s all right, because everybody’s got something broken about them.”
Cardigan grew up in Kentucky and is a classically trained pianist who taught himself to play guitar, bass and drums. He moved to Nashville at age 17 and began producing as part of a hip-hop collective called The Diatribe. He released his full-length debut in 2017.
