NASH Nights Live‘s Elaina D. Smith will be honored by Alliance For Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) with a Gracie Award, which recognizes outstanding achievements by women across all sectors of media. Smith broadcasts her nationally syndicated Country show, NASH Nights Live, from Cumulus Media’s NASH Campus in Nashville.

Additional Cumulus staffers to be honored this year include Rita Cosby, host of WABC Radio New York’s The Rita Cosby Show, who earned two Gracies this year for Talk Show, News-Local Radio, and for Host, Non-News/Non-Fiction-Local Radio; and Joan Hamburg, host of WABC Radio New York’s The Joan Hamburg Show, who earned a Gracie for Soft News Feature-Local Radio. Shila Nathan, Middays Host for NASH FM 94.7 New York, earned a Gracie for her work as Afternoon Drive Personality-Local at CBS Radio-Chicago’s WUSN US99.5.

The 41st annual Gracie Awards, which support AWMF’s educational programs, charitable activities, public service and scholarship campaigns that benefit women in media, will be presented on Tuesday, May 24, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Smith will accept her award along with fellow national honorees including: Tina Fey, Angela Bassett, Cynthia Nixon, Jada Pinkett Smith, Vera Farmiga and Kathie Lee Gifford.

Cosby, Hamburg and Nathan will accept their respective Gracie Awards on June 21 at Cipriani in New York City, at the Gracies Awards Luncheon honoring local market, public and student award winners.

ASCAP presented music from several of its top songwriter members during SXSW in Austin, Texas. On Friday, March 18 at Driskill Hotel, the ASCAP Presents annual acoustic showcase featured Angelica Garcia, Matt Woods, James TW, The Score, Bayonne, Matt Gresham, Angelica Garcia, Matt Woods, James TW, The Score and others.

ASCAP also presented a SXSW rock showcase on Wednesday, March 16 that included performances from Run River North, SWIMM, The Heirs, The Kickback and Great Caesar.

The music continued at SXSW when ASCAP joined with Billboard, LANDR and SOCAN to present boat cruises on Lady Bird Lake for SXSW attendees.

On Monday, March 14, ASCAP Los Angeles’s Jeff Jernigan spoke on the panel “Film Music and TV Music: Who Gets Paid, Why and How,” and on Friday, March 18 ASCAP Nashville’s Mike Sistad spoke on the panel “Why Publishing is Key for Songwriters & Performers.” Later that day, ASCAP members and Americana songwriter-artists Robbie Fulks and Rosie Flores were featured on the Bloodshot Records showcase at Yard Dog Art.

SOURCE To Celebrate 25 Years At 2016 SOURCE Awards In August

SourceAwards2016The 14th Annual SOURCE Awards will honor and induct a select group of women into the SOURCE Awards Hall of Fame on Aug. 30. Tickets will be available in the coming weeks.

The yet-to-be-announced 2016 honorees are women who have played a vital role in the success of Music Row and Nashville’s entertainment industry.

Again held at Nashville’s Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum at the Historic Municipal Auditorium (417 4th Avenue North).

Founded in 1991, SOURCE is a nonprofit organization supporting women executives and professionals who work in all facets of the Nashville music industry. In 2003, the annual SOURCE Awards were established to pay respect to and honor the women who helped develop and build upon the foundation of the music industry in Nashville. SOURCE also pays tribute to women who presently make major contributions with their work in the industry.

Ryman Auditorium To Hold ‘Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman’ Series

BluegrassRymanThe Ryman Auditorium will welcome its annual Springer Mountain Farms Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman series, beginning June 23. This year’s series will include performances from Vince Gill, The SteelDrivers, Greensky Bluegrass, and more.

Gospel Music Association Announces New Board Of Directors

The Gospel Music Association (GMA) has announced a new Board of Directors, whose terms are effective immediately. Jackie Patillo currently serves as President.

The GMA was founded in 1964, and includes agents, artists, managers, promoters, radio personnel, label executives, songwriters and more. The GMA produces the GMA Dove Awards and IMMERSE.

Industry Award Winners Announced For The 51st ACM Awards

Today, the Academy of Country Music® announced the Industry Award winners for the 51st ACM Awards. The ACM Industry Awards recognize the executives and venues who contribute to the artistry, success and longevity of country music.

Industry Award recipients will be feted this year alongside previously announced Radio Award winners during the Industry Awards Reception, hosted by Lady Antebellum member and eight-time ACM Award winner Charles Kelley, on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the MGM Grand Convention Center in Las Vegas. Capitol Records Nashville recording artist Darius Rucker will host his seventh annual “Darius and Friends” benefit concert in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday, June 6 at the Wildhorse Saloon, benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sponsored by A. O. Smith.

Fans will have access to a pre-sale beginning March 23 at 11:00 a.m. CT, by using the code SOUTH. A general on sale will open at 11:00 a.m. CT the following day. Prices range from $35-100 with VIP table options.

Tracy Lawrence Honored By Association of Fundraising Professionals

Tracy Lawrence was named Philanthropist of the Year at the Nashville’s National Philanthropy Day award ceremony Thursday, March 17. The event, put on by Nashville’s chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) recognized donors, volunteers, foundations, leaders, corporations and others engaged in philanthropy who made large, positive impacts in the community in 2015.

Lawrence has long been in partnership with the Nashville Rescue Mission, fundraising for the organization and feeding more than 75,000 in need throughout the past decade with his annual turkey fry. In addition to meals served, more than $63,000 was raised at the 10th Annual Mission: Possible Turkey Fry Concert on Nov. 24, 2015 at City Winery which prompted the Rescue Mission’s submission of Lawrence for Philanthropist of the Year.

 

Brandy Clark To Release Warner Bros. Records Album In June

Brandy Clark will release her major label debut, Big Day In A Small Town, with Warner Bros. Records (Los Angeles), June 10.

Warner’s Nashville outpost will be heavily involved in the roll-out of the Jay Joyce-produced project as the album’s current single,”Girl Next Door,” was released to country radio in February with a music video released earlier this month.

The 11-track album follows the CMA and Grammy-nominated songwriter’s acclaimed 12 Stories (2013).

Clark shares writing credits on every track on the new album, excluding the solo-written “Drinkin’ Smokin’ Cheatin’.” Co-writers include Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, Luke Laird, Jessie Jo Dillon, Mark D. Sanders, Lori McKenna, Jeremy Spillman, and more. Kacey Musgraves join Clark for featured vocals on “Daughters.”

Ahead of the full-length release on Record Store Day (April 16), Warner Bros. Records will release a green 7″ vinyl single for “Girl Next Door” with side B featuring “Homecoming Queen,” plus the same song covered by Sheryl Crow on her own 2013 Warner Bros. Records project.

Red River Entertainment/BFD/RED will release Don Williams In Ireland: The Gentle Giant In Concert DVD and CD on April 15. Included on the project are 19 songs such as “I Believe In You,” “Lay Down Beside Me,” and “Tulsa Time.”

“It’s my sincere hope that the fans will enjoy this package,” said the 2010 Country Music Hall of Fame member. “My whole career has been about the fans, and hopefully these songs will bring them as much pleasure as I gained from performing them.”

Williams recently announced his retirement from the entertainment industry after a five-decade career that included hits in both country and pop music.

CMA Songwriters Series Debuts At SXSW Music Festival

CMA Songwriters Series returned to Austin to make its South by Southwest Music Festival debut at the Paramount Theatre on Saturday (March 19). 2014 CMA Song of the Year Award winners Kacey Musgraves and Shane McAnally were joined by hit songwriter and two-time CMA Awards nominee Josh Osborne to perform for a full house and share stories behind their top songs.

More than 60 CMA members and other special guests gathered at a reception in the Paramount Theatre’s Houdini Lounge before the performance.
