American Music Awards Sets Twitter Record
Sunday night’s (Nov. 24) American Music Awards set a Twitter TV ratings record with 10.2 million people reading over 7.6 million tweets sent about the show. The show was ranked by Nielsen SocialGuide as the most-talked about on Twitter, generating a total of 304 million impressions with each person in the Twitter audience seeing an average of 30 Tweets about the show. The #AMAs hashtag was mentioned over 960,000 times on Twitter during the show’s broadcast.
The numbers make the AMAs the number one Twitter episode measured since the launch of Nielsen’s Twitter ratings in September. The most-talked about moment of the night according to Tweets per minute was Taylor Swift‘s award for Artist of the Year. Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga‘s performances ranked second and third, respectively. The most-mentioned artist of the night on Twitter was Ariana Grande with 231,966 tweets.
