Dualtone Music Group partner Cal Turner III has purchased the shares of fellow partners Dan Herrington and Scott Robinson. Robinson will continue as President and Herrington will leave the company. Robinson and Herrington will retain a minority profit interest in Dualtone, which encompasses both a label and publishing company.
“Scott and Dan have built a great brand in Dualtone Music Group Inc. with some terrific artists and capable staff,” said Turner. “I am excited about taking Dualtone to new levels, exploring creative partnerships, and continuing our commitment to reshaping the quickly evolving record label and entertainment models.”
Projects by the six-year-old label have been nominated for ten GRAMMY awards. Among its releases are albums by Brett Dennen, June Carter Cash, Guy Clark, Bobby Bare, Charlie Robison, Radney Foster, BR549 and vintage releases including The Silos, The Reivers and Townes Van Zandt. Also in the catalog are tributes to June Carter Cash, Waylon Jennings and The Carter Family, which feature new recordings from artists such as Elvis Costello, Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.
Herrington, who was co-founder and co-president, said, “After nearly seven years building Dualtone Music Group Inc., it became apparent to me that the time was right to sell my shares and to give Cal this opportunity. I leave the company in great hands with both Cal and Scott, as well as a great staff, and expect big things for Dualtone going forward.” He can be reached at 615-975-9021 or danherrington@bellsouth.net.
