NASHVILLE, TENN. (October 3, 2008)—“It’s a pretty good night to be named Vincent,” quipped Vince Gill as he took the stage to present the Entertainer of the Year award at the sold out 19th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards Show held last night at the historic Ryman Auditorium, referring to new duo Dailey & Vincent’s multiple awards.
Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent took home an unprecedented seven awards after launching their career as a duo just a year ago. In addition to Entertainer of the Year, they received awards for Vocal Group of the Year, Album of the Year (for their self-titled Rounder debut), Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year (for “By the Mark”), Emerging Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year (Dailey), and Recorded Event of the Year for Vincent’s participation on the album, Everett Lilly & Everybody and Their Brother.
WSM’s Eddie Stubbs inducted artist and international ambassador for bluegrass music, Bill Clifton and the late Charles K. Wolfe, renowned author and cultural historian, into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.
The star-studded program, hosted by the legendary Del McCoury, included performances by The Steep Canyon Rangers, Blue Highway, The Grascals, The SteelDrivers, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, The Del McCoury Band, Dailey & Vincent, The Dan Tyminski Band, The Infamous Stringdusters and Dale Ann Bradley.
